Waste Management Concepts and Awareness
There are numerous concepts for Waste Management which is practised in different regions or countries depending upon the need. One of the widely used Waste Management concepts is Waste Hierarchy. This concept works on 3 Rs reduce, reuse and recycle. Depending on the nature of the wastes, the steps are taken to implement waste minimization. The aim of waste hierarchy is to make optimum use of waste and to generate as little of waste as possible. The other popular concept used is extended producer responsibility. In this, all costs involving in the product life cycle including the waste product disposal are included while pricing.
T
he general public should be educated and made aware about the importance of Waste Management which is very important for the global perspective of resource management. With passing time, the level of environmental pollution, degradation and depletion of natural resources are increasing. With the accumulation of industrial wastes with tremendous industrialisation, depletion of ozone layer due to emission of harmful rays from various industries is depleting the ozone layer which is resulting into greenhouse effects. To avoid all such harmful outcomes and to save the human race from natural disaster, Waste Management awareness is very crucial.
